明治１５年茨城県(現）北茨城市磯原町で父親が廻船業を営む
裕福な家に長男として誕生。
１５歳で上京し、後に早稲田大学へ入学するが父の死後、茨城に戻る。
６５歳で亡くなるまでの間に、童謡、民謡、校歌など２０００余編もの詩を書く。
特に童謡は長い間親しまれ、

身近で起きた怖い事故を目撃しました。
皆さんもう既に、新聞、ＴＶのニュース等でご存知かと思いますが、
８月３日午前５時５０分頃、首都高速道路でガソリンと軽油を積んだ
タンクローリーが横転、側壁に衝突して炎上という事故が発生しました。
